Pancakes, Pancakes! by Eric Carle is a delightful story that provided several fun activities for the students. A farm boy named Jack desperately wants a pancake for breakfast. However, he must go through the tedious process of "naturally" obtaining each ingredient for the pancakes. Pencils and erasers acted as flails for threshing. Everyone was surprised, including the teacher, to see how easily little wheat kernels popped out as the children "beat the wheat!"
