"Quack, Quack!" Ducks were the first farm animal we studied. Debbie, our faithful volunteer, wishes she had a mask right about now! She prefers to step aside when I pull out the camera. :)

Free Play Fun, T/Th Class

Try getting specific. Below is a list of questions relating to typical activities we do in preschool. You might try them out on your next trip home from school.

What did you make during art/craft time? Why?
What letters did you practice? What sound does that letter make?
Did you sing any songs? Can you sing one for me?
What story did you read today? What happened in the story?
Did you do any writing today? What did you write? What did you write on? (white boards, side walk, paper, etc.)

February News

Dear Parents,

Preschool in 2009 is moving right along with a full month behind us. The cold, snowy days(use your imagination) of January provided a host of wintry things for us to experience, everything from making snowballs to feeding winter birds. Please take a few moments to browse the pictures in the postings below to see our students in action during this past month.

Then, after a few classes of Valentine's Day fun, we will start one of my favorite themes--Grandpa's Farm! Highlights of this unit include making homemade butter and jam, milking a cow(well, something like it), and playing instruments in our own animal band. It's a lot of fun!

Feeding the Birds

With the help of a real bird's nest and gummy worms, we acted out the process of migrating. Students learned that many northern birds fly here to Arizona to find food during the winter months. Below you will see students scattering sunflower seeds across the yard in hopes of attracting a generous population of birds to our school.

It Snowed in Gilbert!

"Teacher, it's cold!" With help from a snow cone maker we were able to experience the frosty fun of snow. Throwing snowballs and eating strawberry flavored slushies were highlights of this project.
